Religion Changes and the Gods of Aeolor

In the world of Aeolor, gods are not of divine origin, they are merely mortals gifted with extraordinary power by mysterious pendants they wear around their necks and exist on the material plane. Should one of these pendants be removed from them, they would revert to being a mortal. Anyone who dons a removed pendant becomes a god themselves.

Note: God alignments and domains are not common knowledge. They are part of the metagame.

Wald Serul (Human Male) – A firm proponent of order and regulation, Wald boasts the council of gods to be the answer to all war and conflict on Aeolor and is usually the first to raise suspicions against another council member.

Falgrim Himinnson (Dwarf Male) – One of the few original gods left, Falgrim is an ancient dwarf and everything dwarves exemplify: a sturdy, wealthy former soldier gone blacksmith who enjoys his share of storytelling and strong alcohol. Said to be the greatest blacksmith to ever live, he is he patron god of Dwarves.

+Kreeg Thersul (Human Male)+– A thrill seeker and former adventurer, Kreeg often holds combat tournaments in which he will take part, but not use his abilities as a deity. He also seeks out those who have made names for themselves through feats of great strength or courage.

Gizok Tibbs (Gnome Male) – One of the friendliest gods, Gizok is a former wanderer who obtained his pendant without conflict, struggle or planning. He is a former companion of Wella Chise and offers free quarter to any visitors to Dina. He is the patron god of Gnomes.

Gerta Runestriker (Dwarf Female) – A Dwarven Runebearer, Gerta uses her runes to attempt to uphold order in the world. She is a strong supporter of the Council of Windmasters, or at least what they do for the regulation and use of magic. The speed at which she casts spells is rumored to be unmatched.

Laurellis Valanath (Elf Male) – Laurellis’ primary concern is usually ensuring the continued isolation of the elves and the preservation of their culture. A former dragon rider, he acknowledges the virtues of combat training and subscribes to the notion that balance is the key to the multiverse. He is the patron god of Elves.

Astinus Lierus (Human Male) – The only god who used a great magic book to gain his power, Astinus is now irreversibly blind and wears a blindfold. He is a tall man in his 50s with grey hair and usually wears an ornate blue robe lined with silver runes. Astinus sees all of history as it happens. As a result he has a magic network connected to his own mind, relaying information to countless loremasters for chronicling. He is known to be a powerful wizard.

Wella Chise (Halfling Female) – As a druid, Wella seems to care for nothing other than nature and her own race, she often refuses to take part in council votes unless they involve one of these two subjects. She is the patron god of Halflings and former companion of Gizok Tibbs.

Sojow Munikt (Human Male) – A very elusive god, he is never in attendance at council meetings or paladin training sessions. Instead, he has representatives perform his duties for him. He is known to mischievous and irresponsible, but adept at trickery and matters of social skill.

Vekit Mandrap (Vampire Male) – An ancient vampire and necromancer, Vekit was fearsome and powerful even before godhood. He is the sole reason that vampires are allowed to have a legitimate civilization on the planet’s surface. With such a civilization existing, restrictions have been set on vampires’ behavior. As a result of these restrictions, Vekit has gifted his people with a fountain of perpetual blood. Being a vampire, whose tendencies naturally bend toward evil, many members of the council of gods believe Vekit only humors them whilst waiting for the most opportune time to strike. Gezal Konrik (Human Female) – Gezal believes that Aeolor can only be brought to peace through forced law. She also believes that she is the best candidate to lead such a world and is particularly vicious to people who have wronged her.

Kazi Veleid (Human Female) – A former necromancer who served in the Hundred Year War, Kazi grabbed her pendant from the only god to fall in the fray. Kazi now claims to have renounced the art of necromancy since taking her position in the council of gods, but some believe this is untrue.

Liera Valuus (Human Female) – Liera teaches her followers to delight in the pleasures of the flesh. She frequently enjoys herself in both male and female brothels and also has frequent and lavish banquets. She extremely vain and lives in a luxurious mansion and is also rumored to have many slaves. She indulges in these pleasures so often that she usually misses council meetings. There are also rumors that she has had people killed for being more beautiful than her.

Lurthu Gallidge (Human Male) – An apparent psychotic pyromaniac and warmonger, Lurthu seems to wish nothing more than to see the people of Aeolor suffer. He is quick to anger, which is believed to be a symptom of his mania. The only thing that seems to keep him in the council of gods is an obsession with Liera Valuus.

Dabezork Indawoad (Broken common translation), a.k.a. Worthless Lump, a.k.a. Stupid Orc, a.k.a. The Dumb One, etc. (Orc) – As an orc, he is notably the most stupid member of the council of gods which makes it remarkable that he is one of the few original gods remaining. While often treated as a child or a joke by civilized races, he is a hero to orcs and goblins alike, proof that even they can achieve greatness, a fact that only fuels their violent tendencies. He is the patron of orcs and goblins.
